- Q - Is everything Free at Planet-Denn?
A - Almost everything. Some of the
programs like pd-Base are FREE, but it can be registered to prevent the
reminder screen from opening. The cost to register is only $10.
Versions 1.X are completely FREE. pd-TimeStatus is also FREE, but it
too can be registered to prevent the reminder screen from popping up.
- Q - How long does it take to create a
program?
A - That depends on
many factors. It is hard to determine how long a program will take to
create. How large it is and what it does is only part of the factor of
the time it takes to create it. Presently I have 36 hours on pd-TimeStatus,
and a whopping 772 hours
of programming time in pd-Base.
- Q - Why does it say Planet-Denn is some places and PlanetDenn (without a dash)
in other places?
A - When I first started this site I
wanted the domain name PlanetDenn but it was unavailable so I got the domain
with a dash. Now that
I've put several years into this project PlanetDenn without the dash became
available and I finally was able to purchase it. Now I will have a process of
moving everything from one domain to the other, but you'll always be able to
type in either to get to my site.
- Q - I saw something on this page before that's not here anymore... Why?
A - Check to see if it's been updated and if a new version has been released.
I drop the old versions from the page when a new version is placed on the page
and then I move the new version to the top of the list. NOTE: I do not
take the old version out of the system because somewhere out in internet land someone might
still be pointing a download at the old version, therefore I leave all older
versions in the
system. If you want the older version rather than the newer version
email me and I'll give you a link to download the older version... though I
don't know why you would want to do that since the newer version is much
better.
- Q - If I have questions that are not covered on this page can I e-mail you my
question?
A - Absolutely... just send me an e-mail with your
question and I'll respond as quick as I can.
- Q - Why do you give your programs away for free and will you ever sell any software from Planet-Denn?
- A - Yes, but I will still create software for FREE too.
When I first started to learn programming my programs were not good enough to
sell, but they were good enough to give away. Also, this is my hobby
site and a place to test programs and get feedback from those who use them.
I have others sites that I am part owner of and make money from those sites.
Since most of my programs are free, I always appreciate people buying what
little there is to buy. Every dime adds up.
- Q - Do you create your own graphics?
A - Yes, in
addition to being a programmer, I'm also a graphic artist. Most
everything you see on Planet-Denn was created by me. The reason that I
say "most everything" and not just "everything" is because
creating graphics takes a long time. I have several CDs that I have
purchased over the years which contain several thousand graphics.
Sometimes it makes more sense to use one that's already created than to waste
the time re-creating something I already own. However... sometimes I
will touch up a graphic that might be needed, but just not good enough to pass
my standards.
- Q - Why are some programs marked dbd while others say pd?
A - The
one's marked dbd are creations that were created by me during the time I was
part owner of a database company called Database by Design. Hence
"dbd". The rest that are marked "pd-" stands for
Planet-Denn.
- Q - What else do you do?
- A - In addition to being a Programmer and Graphic
Artist, I'm also an IT Manager, Multimedia Designer, Web Designer, User Interface
Specification
Analyst, Video Editor and Sci-Fi Writer. I have written two science fiction novels
and plan to finish the trilogy one day soon. My first novel "Dimensional
Doorways" is being published this year (2008).
